Animal-assisted therapy (AAT) is an increasingly recognised adjunct to traditional therapeutic interventions. For clients presenting with anxiety, depression, trauma, autism spectrum disorder, or social communication challenges, the presence of a trained therapy dog can meaningfully enhance engagement and therapeutic outcomes.
Therapy Dogs Queensland works alongside psychologists, occupational therapists, social workers, GPs, and allied health practices to integrate AAT as a complement to existing treatment plans.
Our team consists of licensed physical therapists who are knowledgeable, compassionate, and committed to providing high-quality care. We take the time to understand your unique needs and develop a customized treatment plan that is tailored to your specific goals.
• Anxiety and stress disorders - reducing physiological arousal and increasing session comfort
• Trauma and PTSD - creating psychological safety and non-verbal connection
• Autism Spectrum Disorder - supporting social engagement, eye contact and communication
• Depression and social withdrawal - motivation, mood elevation and activation
• Paediatric and adolescent presentations - reducing resistance to therapy engagement
• Disability and rehabilitation - motivation and sensory input during therapeutic activities
We hold specialised training and certification in animal-assisted therapy, with a deep understanding of animal behaviour, psychology and welfare. All therapy dogs are sourced from assistance dog breeding lines and certified under recognised therapy animal standards. We carry full professional indemnity and public liability insurance.
